Time (A Poem)

Ten years ago
Only five I watched my parents scream and fight.
Told the fault was theirs
Not to fright
Everything would be alright.

Five years pass
I aged to ten and learned the picture should be thin
Told to lose pounds
But gain a friend
Never knowing she was such a fiend

More time goes
And now a teen close to driving and can all but flee
But told to gain
But what they don't see
Is the glee in being so tiny

In a years time
I hope for things: To drive; to love; and really, to be free
Not of home
but only me
