The Rules D1 wrote for the last forum:

This forum's code of conduct

Hello Self Injury Friends forum members. This note is intended to provide some
general guidelines for all the members. Kindly note that these guidelines apply to
ALL AREAS of the forum:
whether you are posting a message, updating your journal, posting a link, uploading pictures for your photo album, avatar or signature, posting comments in the photo albums or in the chat room, or any where else.

General Information

SIF staff members frequently review forum messages for those that are in violation of forum rules. Any messages found or suspected to be in violation will be deleted without warning or explanation. The staff here has the final say over anything posted, if message is said to be in violation of the rules, that is final, no further discussion is needed about it.

The SI Friends staff also reserve the right to ban any user, at any time, for any reason with out notification. By posting in this forums you agree to abide by all its rules and terms.

Personal Information

Never at any time post in any forum personal information of yourself or someone else. Information never to be posted here includes, but is not limited to phone numbers, addresses and last names.

Do not post anything of a suicidal nature.

This site is not suicide related. It is a site for self injury only. No suicidal posts, links, or PM's are acceptable. Violating this rule can be grounds for removal. Kindly note that these guidelines apply to ALL PARTS of the forum: whether you are posting a message, updating your journal, posting a link, uploading pictures for your photo album, avatar or signature, posting comments in the photo albums or anywhere else. Please, do not post suicide notes here nor PM another member with a suicide message.

Suicide is a very serious issue.
It needs to be handled by TRAINED PROFESSIONALS.
We at this forum are not equipped to deal with such serious matters. We are not trained suicide counselors and this is not suicide hot line. You will only cause us to panic, worry, and feel helpless. If you feel suicidal you have other better choices, here are some, please utilize them, they can help you.

You are responsible for your user name and password

Every member here is responsible for their user name and password to this site.
If someone posts here using YOUR user name, you are responsible for the posts that are made here, and YOU accept the consequences of it.
We have had too many cases of people intruders/non members using members sign on information to post here. So from now on let it be known that you may get banned for what someone else does under your name.

Guard your password well.
Don't make it anything that someone else could figure out.

Rules regarding pictures

Absolutely No pictures of gore, blood, guts, suicide, porn, unsuitable nudity, or violence are allowed in threads on the forum at any time.

Pictures of self injury with cuts, blood etc... associated with them are allowed in the members photo section only, not in threads on the forum.

Please put some kind of warning on the album that it contains graphic pictures if self injury.

If your picture is larger than 600 pixels by 600 pixels it will be removed.
If you do not understand this find a friend who can help you understand and re-size your pictures if necessary.
If your picture shows up here larger than the maximum size allowed the administration may remove it without any notice to you.

Advertisements

This forum has no advertisements on it.
We like it this way. Do not put up any advertisements any where here.
Not in a post , not in a signature, not any where. This includes advertisements for self injury/self harm, smiley emoticons, face book groups, yahoo groups, twitter groups, etc...

Sex and drug discussions

We are a diverse community and our members range in age from 12-16 to 40+. Please keep this in mind when you are considering posting messages that have explicit contents, including detailed descriptions of sexual acts or drug use. That type of content is inappropriate in this forum.

Defamatory, slanderous or unkind speech

It is not acceptable to speak (or write) harmful or hurtful comments, lies, gossip, etc, etc, etc, about any member of this forum, or one of it's sister forums in threads, private messages or emails. In addition being mean, abusive, hurtful, rude, or in any other way behaving bad to members of this forum, inside this forum or even off the forum, is unacceptable and grounds for the administration to take action.

Counselors and counseling

This forum is not here for you to offer you "free counsel" to us. Whether you are an actual psychologist or self proclaimed makes no difference, you do not belong here. We did not ask you to "help" us and we don't want that here. If this sites members wanted psychiatric help they would seek it, that is not why they joined here. We are here to be among others who deal with like issues. This is a site for people who self injure, if you do not self injure then you do not belong here. It makes no difference if you know some one who self injures, if you do not self injure you do not belong here.

Surveys, Interviews, Questionnaires, etc...

This forum is not here for your school classwork, for counselors/doctors nor for the media . We are not laboratory rats for your term papers, reports, surveys, quizzes or anything else. We will not be quizzed, questioned, or surveyed. We realize you have homework, but we are not going to be your test subjects or source material. Go somewhere else for that. Do not ask to interview us for a TV show, movie, newspaper article or magazine, school assignment, etc... We wont have that here. Not on the forum and not in PM's either.

Profanity

You need not censor yourself but please be respectful to the other members who don't use curse words. The occasional use of profanity is completely acceptable. Excessive use of curse words is not. This is a forum, not a truck stop. Equally important, those who don't use profanities should also respect the fact that sometimes another member may use such words when expressing themselves.

Profanity in avatars is not allowed at all and your avatar will be removed.

Avatar pictures and links

You need to be respectful of others and not put up a photo or avatar that is sexually graphic (showing breasts or external sex organs), or gross, or that is bloody, suicidal, or related to self harm, pictures of cuts and/or blood. If your link or pictures is bad enough that you need to post a warning about its content, then don't post it at all.

No members photos in the "Random Photo" area on the home page

Feel free to upload pictures to add to the "random photo" section of the home page, but do NOT upload pictures of yourself there. Pictures of us belong in the "Members Photo Albums" section of the forum. Not in random photos. Also when uploading a random photo, please be sure to put it in the correct category listing.

Signatures

Pictures in signatures are discouraged, but they are allowed if they are very small.
If your entire signature or a picture in your signature is too big your signature will be removed for you. Some are too wordy, others have pictures that are too big. Some have both problems. Signatures that are too big or too long will be removed. If your signature adds to the width of the page, making the page wider than normal, it will be removed. If you suspect that yours is too big please remove some of it.

A couple of questions:

One: no rules against tip sharing? Or is that something the mods decide case by case?

Two: my therapist sometimes gives me survey type exercises to let me talk through things for my own purposes. Trying to figure out why I want to self-harm helps me take back my control. I'd like to share these with others, so they could have access to that tool, too. Is that still in violation of the no-survey rule if it's not for research or anything? I can show an example, if you want one.

Thanks.

Thanks.

PM an example I'd love to try it Smile and I can ask the staff aka post it to them and we can discuss if it's "ok" or "not" ect thx

Thank you for asking about this stuff too. This is from the first website before it closed and it was good rules really so we put them here... also because those rules we're made and changed over 7 years and we didn't have time to come up with brand new one's in the short space we had befoe closing Sad

For tips... we are half and half... We can give tips to help "healing" or "scar deduction" and things like this... stuff not hurting another in a way... We'd like to give the best "advice" we can or "tips" for being the safest in an activity if possible I guess...

But we do not want to see a "Step-by-step how to do this type of damage to yourself this way" in a thread ect...

For surveys/ect... It is only because we have had Trolls on the first site... psychologists and people doing a degree in something and trying to get information and pry into our "home" here and it makes us uncomfortable... they also want to use information for reports and things... offer to "save us" and so on... we had "Joselin" (anyone remember her? on first site) and whoa... she asked I can't remember but it was very misunderstood knowledge of SI and very insulting questions...

we want to be here because we all understand and we all want friends we can vent to and feel safe and that have our own privacy...

I know I'm not the best at this Neutral I'm really bad at explaining but I can try to as best I can and I can ask Staff for opinions if you have any questions you need to ask and things Smile

Please do PM me one of those things you have I am curios now Razz

Thank you again for asking questions and I will see you around! cohi GDM

Thank you.

I like your explanation of the rules; I think that's a good way to run a site like this. Whether something is tip-sharing, or upsetting, can be situational, too, I suppose.

I also appreciate the no-research rule. I think it's a good thing that the medical profession is actively attempting to find out more about self-harm, but at the same time, I like the idea of not feeling like a test subject while I'm using this forum to attempt to figure out some things for myself. If I decide I want to be a part of research, there are other forums which do allow that.

P.S. I did PM you copies of two of the sheets I use. Cheers.
